Peri Peri Fried Chicken

A healthy twist on fried chicken!

Serves: 2


  • For the fried chicken
    • 1 chicken breast, cut into strips
    • 1 egg
    • ½ cup buttermilk
    • 2 tbs peri peri sauce
    • 1 cup cornflakes, crushed
    • 2 tsp garlic powder, split
    • 2 tsp onion powder, split
    • Salt and pepper
    • 2 tbs paprika, split
    • 2 tsp lemon pepper, split
    • Oil to spray
  • For the sauce
    • 2 tbs mayonnaise
    • 1 tbs peri peri sauce


  • In a bowl, whisk the wet ingredients, egg, and half of the spices
  • Add the chicken and marinate for a few hours
  • On a plate, mix the crushed cornflakes and the other half of the spices
  • Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees
  • Drain the chicken, dip into cornflakes, and set on a sprayed baking sheet
  • Spray on top, and air fry for 7-10 minutes or until outside is crispy and inside reaches 165 degrees
  • Mix the mayo and peri peri sauce on the side and serve with the crispy chicken

Chef’s tips:

  • Use whatever spices you want!
  • If you want an extra crispy chicken, double coat them in the breading
